Djinn

Djinn, the hidden Storyteller

So who is in charge, you wonder.  As you go up and reach the uppermost top of the castle, you spot a gargoyle, a monstruous waterspout on top of the walls.  Its rocky head turns towards you and its mouth makes a grim smile.  "Welcome", it utters with great difficulty.  "Welcome to my world."

You don't grasp it at first: "Your world?  I don't understand.."

The rocky ghoul grins ever further and explains: "I am the hidden storyteller.  Your night, your adventure: I made it up.  I constructed the castle, the residents, the ghosts.  In my mind.  You followed my words, my sentences, my story.  And you were a great reader, an enthousiastic follower.  I thank you.  I am glad you enjoyed both your and my journey."  As he speaks, the castle seems to disappear.  The stones vanish, the landscape fades.  Then, the Djinn fades as well.  In the story, all that remains is

a weird creature on its own
or a weird creature staring at you
